We've Been Lied To

You wake up, grab your coffee, and the first voice you hear is not peace, it’s accusation: you messed up too much, God is tired of you, your prayers won’t matter. We’re not letting that lie run your Monday. I’m Danny Mac, and I’m starting the day by naming what’s really happening when shame tries to take the wheel: spiritual warfare aimed straight at your identity and your confidence in God’s grace. 

We walk through a striking reminder from Scripture that God has always worked through imperfect people. Moses stutters. David fails. Jonah runs. Peter fears. Elijah burns out. Jeremiah sinks low. Even so, God still calls, restores, and uses them. That “hall of fame” of weakness is not there to normalize sin, but to prove a better point: God doesn’t choose you because your resume is clean. He loves you as a Father, sees your needs clearly, and offers strength and forgiveness right where you are. 

Then we land on the anchor truth for every believer battling guilt and shame: “Even when we are faithless, he remains faithful.” When we stumble, God doesn’t turn His back. He moves toward us, invites us close, and helps us get back on track. Our relationship with God is never about earning, it’s about who Christ is and what He has done, and that truth opens the door to a full life marked by freedom, trust, and purpose.

The Lie Of Being Unworthy

I have an important message for you this Monday morning. Many of us have been lied to this past weekend. Yes, I'm serious. You've been lied to. I'm not talking about church, no, that's where you get the truth of God's word into you. I'm talking about the lies that come from the Father of all lies, the things that the devil has told you about you being less than acceptable to God. Every day the king of lies tries to come and tell us that we are not worthy to have God work in our lives or to answer our prayers or to even really care about who we are. Satan tells us that we've messed up too many times in too many ways and too regularly, and God's patience has worn out and he no longer wants to forgive us or to help us. And those lies come directly from the pit of hell. The Bible's very clear that God has forgiven us once and for all. All of our sins are forgiven, past, present, and future. But still Satan lies to us because of our inadequacies, because of our mistakes, and because of our sin. And he tries to make us think that God cannot use us. Well, if you've had those lies come at you this weekend, I want to help you stand up

Flawed People God Still Used

against them. First of all, by reminding you of how many people in Scripture fell short of what we think they should have been, and yet God still used them in a powerful way. This is a hall of fame list of the Bible characters, and every single one of them fell short of perfection, and yet God used them in a very powerful way. So just listen as a remind us all of their failings and their weaknesses, and yet we know how much God was still able to use them. Did you remember that Moses was a stutterer and he didn't even want to get up in front of people and talk to them? Did you know the apostle John Mark deserted Paul halfway through a missionary journey? Timothy, he had stomach problems and was complaining about it. That Hosea's wife was a prostitute whom God had told him to marry. Amos, his only training was in the school of fig tree pruning. Jacob, he was a liar, David, he had an affair. Solomon was too rich, Abraham was too old, David was too young, Peter was afraid of death, and Lazarus, he was already dead. John was a self-righteous guy, and Naomi was a widow. Paul sought to kill Christians and eliminate the church entirely. Moses was a murderer. Jonah ran away from specifically what God told him to do. Miriam, she was a gossip. Gideon and Thomas both had tremendous doubts. Jeremiah was depressed to the point of being suicidal. Elijah was burned out. John the Baptist was a loudmouth, Martha was a worry wart. Noah, he got drunk and passed out in his tent. Did I mention that Moses had a very short temper? So did Peter and Paul. Well, quite honestly, a lot of folks did.

Known Fully Loved Fully

See, here's the thing about God. God doesn't look at a resume in order for us to be saved. He is our heavenly Father. He loves us. He's not prejudiced or partial or judging or grudging once we come and have this relationship with him. But also he's not blind to what our needs are and blind to our weaknesses. He's there to give us strength where we need that and to give us forgiveness for when we need it. The most amazing part of it all is that God knows who we are and knows all about us, knows all those failings and those weaknesses, and he still loves and accepts us. That blows me away to think that God knows all about me and how many times I've messed up. And he still loves me in spite of myself. Sometimes we believe that as soon as we make a mistake, God turns his back on us and starts to walk away. Well, Second Timothy chapter two and verse thirteen tells us even when we are faithless, he remains faithful. Even at the time where we make the mistake, God never turns his back on us. Instead, what he actually does is he comes towards us with his arms open and he says, Hey, come to me. Come closer to me, and let's get this right and start moving forward again.

Who Christ Is Changes Everything

There's a lot of reasons why God shouldn't work in our lives. But our relationship with God is never about who we are, it is about who Christ is and what he has done for us. And because of what he's done for us, we can have this relationship with God that takes away all of our sin and all of our weaknesses and all of our failings and lets us stand pure and righteous before God and be able to do what He's asked us to do. God will never ask you to do something you are incapable of. He will always give you the tools to be able to do it. And so He says, Come on, let's experience this full life that I have for you. Let's step into it in every way. Let's relish the good things that I have for you. And don't let the enemy steal from you with his lies that seek to destroy you and hinder you and limit you in what you can and should be.
