Larry King’s One Question And The Claim That Changes History
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Larry King was the 'king' of the interview on CNN for over 25 years. Near the end of his career, he was asked, "If you could interview anyone from history, who would that be?" His response was, "I would interview Jesus Christ and ask him just one question." That question wasn’t about politics, headlines, or fame. It was about the virgin birth. We take that surprising moment and use it as a doorway into one of the most meaningful claims in Christianity: Jesus did not arrive by ordinary means, because our deepest need can’t be met by ordinary solutions.

Larry King’s Question For Jesus
SPEAKER_00to 2010, the man that most people listened to for news talk and interviews was a fellow by the name of Larry King. He interviewed everybody from Kings and Presidents, heads of business, religious leaders, pop stars, actors, musicians, he interviewed them all. At one point then late in his career, he was asked this question If you could interview anybody from history, who would that be? Larry King's response was he would like to interview Jesus Christ and that he would ask him just one question. Are you indeed virgin born? He said the answer to that question would explain history for me. There are a number of reasons why Jesus' virgin birth is actually very important. Let's
Luke’s Story Of Mary And Gabriel
SPEAKER_00go back to where this all started back in Luke chapter one. The angel appeared to Mary and told her that she was highly favored and that she was going to give birth to a son and that he would be called the Son of God. Mary's response in verse 34 was, But how can this happen? I'm still a virgin. Gabriel then says to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. See, Jesus' birth was the result of the Holy Spirit working within Mary's body. And this process could only happen as a miracle of God. One of the important things to also recognize was that Mary was fully human, and through that Jesus came to this world with a physical body, and therefore able to die. At the same time that Jesus was born fully man, he was also born fully God. So when Jesus was born, there was no sin in him. He had no sin nature, according to Hebrews chapter 7 and verse 26. The virgin birth of Jesus circumvented the transmission of the sinful nature from a sinful father and allow the eternal God to become a perfect man. So he never sinned, and that qualified him to be a righteous substitution, a righteous sacrifice for sinners.
Why The Virgin Birth Matters
SPEAKER_00The virgin birth, it's it's also important because it affirms for us the inspiration and the authority of Scripture. Isaiah chapter 7, verse 14 says, All right then, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the virgin will conceive a child, she will give birth to a son, and we'll call him Emmanuel, which means God with us. So the scripture is confirmed by the birth of Jesus from a virgin. Finally, that virgin birth is important because it reminds us that salvation must come from God. And apart from that, we have no access to Him. Only through Christ can we have the salvation that we need in our lives. Because of who we are and what we are, we can't produce a Savior. So salvation has to come from outside of us, and that salvation has to come from the Lord. You
Encouragement For Doubters And Believers
SPEAKER_00may have listened to what I talked about this morning and go, that's great. I already believe that and know that. I know that and believe that. Why do I need to hear that this morning? I wanted to remind us that God did the impossible, the incredible, so that he could show his love to you and to me. He has fully invested himself in you and in your life, so that you can know for sure that he is with you. So today just be encouraged to know that God is there, that God loves you, and what he has done for you. He did this incredibly miraculous, powerful thing by coming from heaven to earth, so that we could now have the same power of life and peace and joy working in our lives. If Larry King were to ask Jesus that question, Were you born of a virgin? I believe what Jesus would have done is he would have smiled and said, Yes, Larry. And let me tell you why that's important, and would have laid out for Larry King and for all the world to hear God's salvation plan given to this world through a gracious and loving, perfect God and a humble woman who chose to be used by God to fulfill his purpose and promise for mankind.
