Everything feels louder right now, and it can be hard to know what to do with the mix of cultural pressure, confusion, and constant conflict. We start with a clear-eyed look at why so many of us feel unsettled, then we name the shifts behind it without spinning out into panic. If you’ve been carrying that sense that society changed fast and the ground keeps moving, this short devotional is built to steady you.

We walk through four changes showing up in daily life: a post-Christian culture where faith is pushed aside, a post-family culture with growing instability at home, a post-relational age where technology replaces real connection, and a new rule that says disagreement equals judgment. That last one hits especially hard, because it trains people to treat honest differences as hate. We push back on that with a better standard: we can disagree and still love, and we can speak truth without fear.

From there, we anchor in Scripture. 2 Timothy 1:7-8 reminds us God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind, and Matthew 5:13-16 calls us to live as salt and light. That means preserving what’s good, adding Godly “flavor” to a bland or bitter world, and letting truth and love be visible in how we act and speak. We close with a simple focus: keep praying, keep believing, and keep trusting that God is in control.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review with the Scripture that’s keeping you steady right now.

Welcome And The Five Minute Start

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mack. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and let me help you start your day right. Our society

Cultural Changes That Feel Alarming

has gone through a tremendous amount of change, particularly over the last four or five years. It's very difficult seeing some of those changes. The societal norms that are currently trying to be pushed just don't make any sense to me. The perspective on law enforcement and not having to be held accountable for one's actions. The attempts to redefine gender and enforce those same issues upon children, and so many other issues. It really shouldn't surprise us, though. The Bible tells us that strange things are going to be happening when things come towards an end. But as Christians, we need to come to grips with what these shifts are now, and then know what we can and should be doing about

Four Big Shifts In Society

it. I recently heard a pastor give a list of four things that have shifted dramatically just in the last few years. He said that we now live in a post Christian culture, both in Canada and the United States. Christianity has been pushed out. People who believe in Jesus Christ and his gospel are in the minority in both of those countries, and it's certainly not something that's being upheld and pushed in our governments. The second thing he said that we live in a post family culture. The percentage of children who are living with both of their original parents today is only forty six percent. The third thing he said is that we live in a post relational age where technology has taken over for relationships. All you have to do is watch a group of teenagers walking down the street. Rarely are they talking to each other. Almost always they have their iPhones out in front of them and they're punching buttons in, posting messages to one another. It wasn't too long ago I saw a couple in a restaurant who sat across from one another texting each other instead of having a conversation. I know they were texting because I asked them later. I happen to know them. Then the fourth thing is one that's really troubling. It's we live in an age where disagreement equals judgment. If you don't agree with somebody, it means you hate them, you're judging them. And that's just nonsense. If that were the case, there are many times that my wife and I would be hating each other. But we don't. We love one another. We disagree, but we love. You see, there's stuff happening around us that just doesn't make sense. But God gives us a message that's most important for us in the midst of all of this right now, that we can't forget. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain, and in some cases I know of people who are panicking because their changes are just so difficult in trying to deal with. But as

Replacing Fear With Power And Love

Christians, here's where we are in our walk with God. First of all, in Second Timothy chapter one, verses seven and eight, we are told that God has not given to us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord. God's not one who gives us fear. And not only do we hang on to them for us, but we are able to share them with people around us. There are people who need hope, and they're not finding any hope in the world as it is right now. The only hope that there really is is in Jesus Christ. So our words, what we say and what we do are all that much more important. Over

Living As Salt And Light

in Matthew chapter five, verses thirteen down through sixteen, it says you are the salt of the earth, but what good is salt if it's lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? No, it'll be thrown out and trampled under foot as worthless. But you are the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead a lamp is placed on a stand where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. To be salt means that we add flavor. And salt was also used as a preservative. That's what we are to be in the world right now, to add flavor to this world, to be a preservative, to try and preserve what is right and strong and stand up for what is right and strong, according to what God has said. And to be light? Well, the light that shines on the hill everybody can see by. We need to be people of light, not trying to blend in with everybody around us, not trying to accept their foolishness and their lies and their untruths, but be light, be light that shines. Let people see truth in us, and let God's love shine through us. And

Pray Trust God And Keep Showing Up

most of all, keep praying, believing and trusting that God is in control. I hope you have a wonderful day, my friends. Take care, be a blessing, and be blessed. And we will talk again tomorrow. Thank you for listening today. And I invite you to join me Monday to Friday right here on Starting Right with Danny Mack.
