The fastest way to feel anxious is to believe you’re always one purchase behind. Today’s Music Monday is a five-minute Christian devotional that pushes back on the “more, more, more” story and replaces it with something sturdier: contentment rooted in Jesus. I share a song most people haven’t heard, then use it as a doorway into a practical conversation about money, desire, and what actually makes a life feel full.
Today's Music Monday episode is “Jeans and Jesus” by Levi and Jacob Mills, a country song with simple, uplifting lyrics that point to a simpler life: a roof overhead, clothes to wear, a job to work, someone to love, and Christ at the center. If you’re searching for Christian encouragement, Bible-based perspective on materialism, or a quick daily reset, this one is designed to help you start the day right. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s feeling the pressure of “more,” and leave a review so more listeners can find it.

Welcome And Daily Format
SPEAKER_01Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mack. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and let me help you start your day right. Hey good morning, everybody. Welcome to Music Monday. And today I've got a song for you that I really like, but I'm thinking that most of you probably have never even heard it. I kind of stumbled across it the other day and it caught my ear, and I just really love it. It reminds us of a simpler life. You know, there's this philosophy in the world right now that says in order for you to be happy, you have to always have more. We have to have more and more money, not just to survive, but because somehow we need more and more things. You need a bigger house, you need a pool in the backyard, you need a third car, you need a camping vehicle, you need to go on an extra long vacation. Now I'm not saying there's anything wrong with any of those things, but what I am saying is that the pursuit of those things can often keep us from experiencing what really is important. The Bible does clarify for us what is important, what we need to be pursuing. In Hebrews chapter thirteen verses five and six it says, Don't love money, be satisfied with what you have, for God has said I will never fail you, I will never abandon you. So we can say with confidence, The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? We don't need all this stuff that the commercials and the people around us are telling us that we need. We need to focus on who Jesus is and what He wants from us in our lives, and He will supply our needs. He will be there for us. We need to trust Him. And that trust needs to be the same kind of trust that Paul was talking about in Philippians chapter four, starting in verse eleven. He said I was never in need, but I've learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I've learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or with little. For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. Paul reminds us that the most important thing in our lives is our relationship with Jesus Christ. All of the other things God will give us the strength, the wisdom, and the blessing to get through so that we can maintain our walk with him and be in fellowship with him. So all of that is to introduce to you our song today, which is written by Levi and Jacob Mills. The song is called Jeans and Jesus. Now I know, I know that some of you just listening to that title, you're going, What? Jeans and Jesus? What kind of song is that? Well, let me tell you, it is a wonderful and uplifting song, very encouraging, and yes, it is a country song. But I want you all to listen to it today, whether you like country or not, because the message of the song is very simple, but very powerful, very important for where we are today. Here's just a sample of these wonderful lyrics. I've got work, a Chevy in the garage I love to drive, an old Holden church, and a beat up Bible to read in, and I'm reading. I've everything I need. Ain't got much, but I got genes and Jesus. I got genes and Jesus. Now I know those lyrics aren't deeply theological, and there are some who will mock them simply because they're simple. But the simple truth of God's word is that when we've got Jesus and we've got a roof over our head, we've got clothes on our body, we have someone to love, and we've got a job to go to that can pay the bills, when we have all of those things, that's all we really need. God is with us to guide us and to bless us, and yes, he will bless us. And sometimes his blessing is overwhelming, it's abundant and powerful and beautiful. If we have him and live our lives according to what Jesus has for us, all of the other things will take care of themselves. Because he will guide us and bless us with the things that we truly need. I'm going to leave you with just a short clip of the song, but it really doesn't do it justice. I hope you will follow the link which is in your show notes today. It will take you to YouTube, and you can watch and listen to the entire song there. I really enjoy it, and I hope that you will as well. So have a great day, my friends. Let God work in you and bless you. And here's Levi and Jacob Mills with Jeans and Jesus.
