God’s Foundation In Five Minutes

Shame has a loud voice, and fear loves to narrate your future. We push back by remembering what God has already done and what He has promised to keep doing, so we can live in the moment with a steady heart and real hope.
We walk through three anchors that form a firm spiritual foundation for everyday life. First is God’s kindness from Romans 2:4, the kind of patient grace that pulls us toward repentance instead of pushing us into hiding. Then we hold tight to Romans 8:1 and the freeing truth that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, even when we fail. If you’ve been stuck replaying mistakes, this is a practical reset for your morning mindset.
Next we talk about God’s faithfulness that does not depend on your perfect consistency. Philippians 1:6 reminds us God finishes what He starts, and Romans 8:38-39 answers the fear that you might be abandoned: nothing can separate you from His love, not today’s worries or tomorrow’s unknowns. Finally we lean into God’s promises to forgive and cleanse (1 John 1:9) and to heal a damaged, guarded heart with a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26), even after betrayal, deep hurt, or church wounds.

SPEAKER_00Good morning and welcome to Starting Right. I am Danny Mack, and I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back and relax for the next five minutes as I help you start your day by starting right. Yesterday we talked about Jeremy Camp's song Keep Me in the Moment. And as we went through some of the impact of that song and how it affected his life and how it can affect ours, we talked about the importance of not dwelling on the past. We also talked about not looking towards the future with fear. Well, that got me thinking a little bit about what we do need to have and what we do need to establish ourselves on. We need to know about the foundation that God has laid for us in the past that allows us to be able to live in the moment now and gives us the hope that we need for the future. And today there are three things I want to look at to help us to remember what God has done in establishing this firm foundation for our lives. First thing we need to remember is God's kindness. Romans chapter two and verse four, it says, Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Over in Romans chapter eight and verse one, there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. God's kindness to us is amazing. Sometimes we refer to that as his grace. It's in this case, it's very similar. What God does is that he shows kindness and tolerance and patience with us, even when we don't deserve it. That is so big, that is so important. And the fact that we are not condemned, we are never now in a place where we are condemned by God, even when we make mistakes and we sin against God, we are not condemned by him. He still shows his patience to us, wanting us to come back. We need to also remember that God is faithful, even if we are not. Philippians chapter 1, verse 6. I am certain that God who began the good work within you will continue his work until it's finally finished on the day when Christ returns. I like this even better in Romans chapter 8, verses 38 and 39. I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today or our worries about tomorrow. Not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or on the earth below, indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Isn't that amazing? God will never abandon us. He is faithful to us. His faithfulness to us is not based upon our faithfulness to him. He will remain faithful to us. And in that faithfulness, he will always love us and accept us and want us to make things right again. You have never gone too far away from God or made too big a mistake that you cannot come back to him. He loves you and he will always be there with you and for you. Then we need to remember that God has given us some incredible promises. First John 1 9. If we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. I like Ezekiel 36 26. I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart, and give you a tender, responsive heart. Isn't that amazing? I really love that verse in Ezekiel 36. He's going to take away our stubborn heart, our stony heart, one that may have been damaged or crushed or hurt so deeply because of people and situations, maybe even because of churches and other Christians or pastors. Maybe you've been betrayed and hurt by people that you thought you could trust. God tells us that damage caused by other people affects our hearts. And God will come and He will take that stony heart, that fragile heart, that one that has been so badly damaged, and He will give us a tender and responsive heart that is healed because of who He is. When we enter into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we have our forgiveness of sin and we now have this relationship with Christ because of that. Jesus said that the result then is that he will give us life and life to the full. It's not always exactly what we think we want, but the end result will always be far better than we would ever expect. And he never asks us to make a promise that we cannot keep. What he does do is he asks us to receive a promise that only he can keep. His promise is to cleanse us, to forgive us, his promise is to love us, his promise is to guide us and be with us and never abandon us. His promise is to give us peace and strength and hope. That is what he has promised for us. All that he asks of us is that we choose him. We receive the forgiveness that he has for the sin that is in our lives, and then to let him start to work in us. There is so much more that God wants to do in you and me. There are so many people around us that God wants to be able to shine his light to through us. And all he's looking for are people who are willing to say, Thank you for what you've done. Now use me, Lord. Can that be our response today? To say, Lord, I remember now your kindness that you've shown to me. I remember your faithfulness that you've shown to me. Lord, I remember now some of those promises that I had forgotten. And Lord, I ask that you use me today to be a light for you. Have a great day, my friends. We'll talk again tomorrow. Thank you for listening today. And I invite you to join me Monday to Friday right here on Starting Right with Denny Max.
