Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mack. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and let me help you start your day right. Hey, good morning, everybody. Great to have you here with me today because I want to do something different than I've ever done before. I want to walk through an entire psalm with you this morning, Psalm 91, and I want to do that because within this psalm, there is some significant information for us that will help us today with everything that we're facing, with whatever we're going through, with whatever the political or social situations that we are struggling with, this psalm can give us some strength. So let's go through it. Verse one is the key verse to the entire Psalm. It says, He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. If we're willing to dwell with God in his presence, and under his shadow and under his authority, the rest of the challenges we have today will be easy. Let's read on though. Verse two says, I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. What do you say about your God today? What do you say about him and what he is to you? Is he your God and do you trust him today? The words that you speak about God are important. What you say about him will impact every part of your day. Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. Did you hear all the things there that we will not fear? And we will not fear them because just before that God has declared that He will save us from those things that want to ensnare us or trap us, that want to pull us away from truth. God will keep us safe and will bless and be with us. Verse seven a thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. Now we come to verse nine. So let's just stop for a moment and look a little bit more carefully at what it says. Because it says, If you make the most high your dwelling, the choice here is not God's. The choice is ours. It's our choice as to where we place God in our lives, that we make him the place that we want to live. In fact, if you go back to verse one, you see the whole psalm starts that way. It says, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High. We choose to be in this relationship with God. We choose where we want to be in this relationship, and we choose to make him our God, and to make him the most high over us. But that is our choice. Verse ten. Then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent, for he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra, you will trample the great lion and the serpent. Now God talks about you and me. He says, Because he loves me, says the Lord, I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, and I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. In this short psalm, God tells us that when we decide to dwell with him, when we acknowledge that God is our place of safety, our refuge, that he is our God, and that we can trust him. God will then help protect us from all of the traps that are set before us today, all the things that want to get in our way to pull us away from what God has for us. And it also tells us that when we trust him, we will not live in fear. Because God loves us, he will protect us, and he will be with us. Verse fifteen says, He will call upon me and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. Powerful psalm and powerful promises. Have a great day, my friends. We will talk again tomorrow. Thank you for joining us today, and I invite you to join us every Monday to Friday right here at Starting Right with Danny Mac.
