Starting Right

Unlimited Gifts For Ordinary Days

DannyMac Season 1 Episode 1897

What if the patience you’re praying for is already yours? We open with Ephesians 1:3 and a bold promise: every spiritual blessing has been lavished on us in Christ. From there, we trace a clear path to the Fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—and show how these qualities move from theology to practice in the middle of your busiest moments.
Along the way we highlight why the Fruit of the Spirit is not a personality test or a reward for the ultra-disciplined. It is the Spirit’s produce within you, meant to be limitless and present right where life feels noisy or thin.  If you’re ready to move from striving to abiding, from scarcity to sufficiency, this short, focused episode will help you take the next step.

SPEAKER_00:

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right. I am Danny Mack, and I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back and relax for the next five minutes as I help you start your day by starting right. Good morning, everybody. I think that this verse I want to share this morning is something that's good for all of us. It's one of those that are important. Ephesians chapter 1 and verse 3 tells us that every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished on us as a love gift from our wonderful Heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus. All because he sees us wrapped into Christ, this is why we celebrate him with all of our hearts. I love that where it says that every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has been lavished upon us. Now I know how I feel sometimes. I wonder exactly what those gifts are. And sometimes I'm asking God to give me what he's already given me. Let me just simplify it. Let's talk about the blessings that God has lavished upon us here in this earth right now. We can find those in Galatians chapter 5 and verses 22 and 23. Let me read it to you from the Passion Translation, because it says it a little bit differently, although it includes all of them as well. But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all of its varied expressions, joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless. I love that. These things are limitless. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, virtue, faith, gentleness, strength, self-control. All of those things are limitless from God to us all the time. And yet sometimes we don't even recognize that we've got them. And so we keep asking and going to God saying, Lord, I need this. Please give it to me. I need you to help me to have some patience right now. God, I need some faith right now. Lord, give me some joy. We don't understand that it's already been given to us. Let me tell you a story that'll help you understand. I'm a gadget guy. I like gadgets. I like the electronic gadgets. I have a pretty cool cell phone and it's got apps on it, and I use almost every single one of them. I use it a lot. I've got various devices connected to my television to allow me to get extra channels and to do different things. I love those gadgets that I can play with with those things. I've always loved those gadgets. But there's one gadget in our home that I really like, and it's called an echo. It's a little device where you can speak to it and give it voice commands and it will give you answers. It will tell you things like the weather. You can ask about the news, you can ask what time is it in Rome. You can do all those kinds of things. And you can ask it to play music. There's a keyword for it, and the keyword is the name Alexa. Now, just me saying that, the one here in my office, the light has come on because it's waiting for me to give it some instructions. But when you speak to it and you speak the name, you now can give it the instructions you want it to do. Well, one of the things I really like about this little unit, when I make an order of products from Amazon, it will tell me when that product is delivered. There's a little yellow ring on the top of this that starts to flash. So you ask what's the notification, and it will tell you that your order has been delivered. I got one of those the other day. That ring was flashing. I asked what it was. It said my order had been delivered. I thought, great. This is perfect. My order is sitting for me down in my mailbox. But my mailbox is a little bit of a walk, it's not long, it's a little bit of a walk away. So I didn't pick it up for a couple days. When I went down and got it a couple days later, I realized that if I had been down earlier, I could have used it the day before. Because it was something that I needed to be able to finish a project that I was working on. It was already there for me, but I didn't go and get it. So it is with these spiritual blessings that God has lavished on us. He's given them to us, He's poured them upon us, and yet sometimes we don't go and receive them. So here's what I want to say today. If you need any of these, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control, God has promised that He's already given them to you. You don't have to wait for them, you don't have to look for them. We simply have to accept them. God, I thank you that you have promised that you have given to me peace. I thank you that you've given me strength. Father, I ask that you help me now to live knowing that it's there, to experience it in my life. He's lavished it upon you. This is the great, powerful love of Christ for us. He lavishes his gifts upon us because he loves us. And there's so much that he's already given us, and it's there for you today and always. Have a great day, my friends. We'll talk to you again tomorrow. Thank you for listening today. And I invite you to join me Monday to Friday right here on Starting Right with Danny Mack.
