Take You at Your Word

DannyMac Season 1 Episode 1350

Ever notice how certain worship songs seem to find you exactly when you need them most? That's what happened this weekend with "Take You at Your Word" by Ben Hastings and Cody Carnes. Despite hearing it countless times before, something about this particular moment made its message of unwavering trust in God's promises resonate more deeply than ever.
As Cody Carnes beautifully expressed, "We trust God regardless of circumstances. He's been there before and has made good on His promises. We have faith that He will do it again." When we choose to take God at His word—believing what He says about us rather than what our circumstances might suggest—we discover an antidote to worry that never fails. The lyrics remind us: "If you said it, I'll believe it. I've seen how good it works. If you start it, you'll complete it." Today, whatever you're facing, remember that God's Word about you and for you remains trustworthy.

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax and let me help you start your day right. Good morning, everybody. I hope you had a really good weekend. We've had a wonderful weekend here.

Speaker 1:

We had some special services at our church that were amazing. It made the weekend very full, but it was well worth it. And there was one song in those services that stuck out to me. We sung it many times before in our church. In fact, it's a frequent part of our worship service this weekend. This song really spoke to me and encouraged me, and I hope it will encourage you too, as it is our Music Monday Song of the Week. Take you at your Word. It was written by Ben Hastings and Cody Carnes and released back in 2022.

Speaker 1:

One of the common needs of all Christians is that we need to be encouraged. We all face challenges and struggles, and those uncertainties can easily overwhelm us. Well, this song is a reminder that God has already given us an antidote to all of that worry and all of that fear. That antidote is based upon His Word. His Word is true and faithful and we can take Him at His word. Here's just a few things that God's word says about us that we often forget when we're going through those challenges. In Ephesians, chapter 1 and verse 5, we are told that God has adopted us as His child. Over in Colossians, chapter 1 and verse 14, it tells us that we've been redeemed that means, bought back by God, and we have been forgiven of all of our sins. All of them are forgiven by Him. Over in Romans, chapter 8, verse 35, there is a promise that we cannot be separated from God's love. No matter what we are feeling, no matter what our circumstances, god's love will always be there for us. Philippians 1.6 tells us that we can be confident that God has begun a good work in each of us. Over in Hebrews, 4.16, god has promised us that we can find grace and mercy when we need it. Over in John, 15.16, jesus tells us that we have been chosen and appointed by God to bear fruit in our lives.

Speaker 1:

Down in Philippians, chapter 2 and verse 10, one of my favorites that we are. The workmanship of God, that he Himself has put us together, has made us exactly as we are, and we belong to Him as His workmanship. Again, in Philippians, chapter 3 and verse 12, we are promised that we can approach God with freedom and with confidence. And in Philippians, chapter 4, verse 13, it tells us that we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. That's just a few of the many promises of God that he has given us in His Word. Just a few of the many promises of God that he has given us in his word. His word is true and this song reminds us that we can take him at his word, not only about our circumstances and the people around us, but we can take him at his word about us and for us. Listen to what Hebrews, chapter 10 and verse 23, says about being able to trust the promises of God. It says let us hold firmly to the hope that we have confessed, because we can trust God to do what he has promised. When asked about the song, cody Karnes said this we trust God regardless of circumstances. He's been there before and he has made good on his promises. We have faith that he will do it again. His way is the only way to life. It is the narrow road that is full of love when we come to Christ and put our trust in Him, we are rescued from the chaos of our past and heirs to His kingdom, and this brings glory to Him and life to us.

Speaker 1:

Here's a few of the lyrics from Take you at your Word. I'll take you at your word. If you said it, I'll believe it. I've seen how good it works. If you start it, you'll complete it. I'll take you at your word. You said your love will never give up. You said your grace is always enough. You said your heart would never forget or forsake me. You said I'm saved. You call me yours. You said my future's full of your hope. You've never failed, so I know that you'll never fail me. The powerful message of this song is that God is faithful and we can take Him at His word. I'm going to leave you with just a short clip of Take you at your Word and in your show notes today there is the link that you can click on or copy and paste and listen to it on YouTube. Be blessed, know that you can trust God's Word to work for you and in you today. And here's Cody Carnes and Ben Hastings with just a short clip for you. Come on.
