Speaker 1:

She was the worship leader at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, for many years. She's written a book called Extravagant Worship and in it she tells this very powerful story. It was while they were getting ready for a tour in the United States and Darlene and her husband went to see the doctor for a checkup on her 12-week pregnancy. Tragically, this baby had died in the womb. She writes this in her book Shattered, brokenhearted. All those things you can think of do not even come close to describing the agony of that moment. We had taken separate cars to the doctor, so I had to drive back to the house by myself, with Mark following me. I got in the car and I just didn't know what to think or do. I can't really describe the depth of sadness I was feeling. On the way home, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper, sing. In that moment it was the absolute last thing I wanted to do. So after years of learning, it is much better to obey. Quickly I started to sing. My head didn't sing and I don't even know if my heart sang, but my soul sang. It was almost involuntary. I sang two songs. By the time I got home, something had happened in the spiritual realm. I had spoken many times on the power of worship and worshiping through a trial. Never had I experienced the power of God coming so sovereignly and fulfilling his word where it says he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Through being in the sweet presence of our glorious Savior, I was well on the way to complete healing and personal victory.

Speaker 1:

We are all going to experience problems in our lives, some very severe. In the book of James, it tells us very clearly that we are all going to experience problems in our lives, some very severe. In the book of James, it tells us very clearly that we are going to have trials and tribulations. They're going to come. We're going to find times when we are so desperate to try and find an answer, when we are hurting so badly and so deeply that we don't know where else to turn or what else to do when we face those trials and those tribulations, those problems that are going to come into all of our lives. That's not a statement about how good a Christian we are. It's got nothing to do with that. So we're all going to have those times where we're going to be hurting deeply and we don't know the answers.

Speaker 1:

It's at those times that God comes very clearly and distinctly and ministers to us and gives us his grace. And that is where we see what that verse that Darlene was talking about in Psalm 147 and verse 3. He comes and he heals the brokenhearted and he binds up their wounds. In those times when we are hurting the most, those are the times when God comes and surrounds us even more so, and he comforts us and he loves us and he helps us. It's never a question of if you will go through times of extreme pain like that. It's a matter of when.

Speaker 1:

So know that God is always with you and do what Darlene did. She listened to what God said and she obeyed, and for her. The release came when she started to worship, and that worship of God for her brought peace and strength into her. That was completely supernatural. It couldn't have come any other way. Look to God for your answers. Let his strength be there for you even in the worst of your times. God loves you. He's with you always. Take care, We'll talk to you tomorrow.
