Speaker 1:

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax and let me help you start your day right. The other morning during my Bible reading, I happened to be in the book of Psalms, and particularly in the 37th chapter. There were two verses there that as I read them, they sort of jumped out at me and caught my attention. I love it when that happens You're reading something that you've read many times before, but all of a sudden the neon lights go on around.

Speaker 1:

Some verses there that speak to you and speak to you in a very powerful way. Well, that's what happened when I read verses 4 and 5. They say take delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord, trust him and he will help you. Now, really, that's pretty basic information about our walk with God, but sometimes basic information becomes too common and we forget how important it really is. So I want to spend just a couple moments this morning encouraging you from these two verses, because within them there is tremendous wisdom and guidance for anyone who wants to build a closer walk with God.

Speaker 1:

The first verse is an invitation to take delight in the Lord, and by delight it means that in Him we can find joy, we can find purpose, we can find satisfaction. It also means that we have a very special relationship with the Creator of the universe. It goes way beyond mere religious obligations. It really is this invitation to experience the beauty, love and goodness that comes from God's presence. When we truly delight in the Lord, our hearts will be in line with His will and purpose. Our desires are aligned with His desires for us. And it's not about selfish desires or anything like that, but it's more about us learning to seek God's will above everything else. And as we build this relationship with God and we find true joy in His presence, we become tuned to His heart and His desires can become ours.

Speaker 1:

And then verse 5, really it's about surrender. It says Commit everything you do to the Lord, trust him and he will help you. I've finally come to the realization in my life that I can't trust my decisions or my ways or my plans, and God is the only one who knows what the future will hold. So I have to learn to trust him because he knows what's going to come. When I commit everything that I have and everything I am to Him and I learn to trust Him, then he's able to help me. And when you get right down to it, trusting is an integral part of both faith and commitment.

Speaker 1:

Trust says that you have a confident reliance on God, on His wisdom, his faithfulness and His goodness. It really is an act of surrendering everything that we're upset about, everything that we're afraid of, all the uncertainties that we have. We give them over to him. And when we trust him, we acknowledge that we know that he can and will help us. He is our refuge, he is our strength and he is capable of guiding us and protecting us and providing for us in every circumstance. And then the last phrase is that he will help you. He is faithful to His problem. His help may come in various forms, usually in ways that you weren't expecting, but he will come and he will help. He will give guidance, he will provide, he will give comfort and strength or even deliverance. And His help is not always according to our timing or the way that we expect, but it's always there. God is faithful to His promises and he will not abandon those who put their trust in Him. He is with us and he is for us.

Speaker 1:

These two verses from Psalm 37 give us this invitation to help us build this deep and meaningful relationship with God. They teach us the importance of finding joy in His presence, of aligning our desires with His will, of committing our lives to Him and trusting that he will be faithful to His Word and to us. When we start to live according to what God's Word says here, we will find that God will respond by filling us with purpose, peace and guidance. As we delight in the Lord, our hearts find true fulfillment. As we commit everything to Him, we experience His unwavering help and support.

Speaker 1:

So this morning, my friends, I encourage you all today. Stop right where you are right now and listen to these words of encouragement today. Stop right where you are right now and listen to these words of encouragement. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord, trust Him and he will help you. Have a wonderful day, my friends. God is with you, he's not forgotten you and he will give you strength and wisdom. Take care, we will talk again tomorrow. Thank you for listening today and I invite you to join me Monday to Friday right here on Starting Right with Danny Mac.
