Speaker 1:

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right. I am Danny Mac and I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back and relax for the next five minutes as I help you start your day by starting right. Hey, good morning everyone. It's really good to have you here with me today. In fact, I feel even better about being able to be with you today. It's been a while.

Speaker 1:

For those of you that don't know, I had a stroke back at the end of October and I've been going through that recovery over the last four months. One of the areas the stroke has affected me is in my speech, but I am not going to let that stop me today, because today I have a wonderful new song for you from we the Cane Room, called you, bless Me, just released back in January of this year. We will come back and talk about the song in just a moment, but first of all I want to take a look at Philippians, chapter 4, verses 6 and 7. They say this Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything, tell God what you need and thank Him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. It says don't worry about anything. I've got to tell you that ain't easy.

Speaker 1:

Over the last few months, I've worried about so many things. I've worried about my health and my family and my finances. There have been times when I've been overwhelmed and, to be very honest with you, during those times I've been fearful. I've been really afraid. But God has taught me. He's been with me. He's taught me, and he's still teaching me to trust Him. Today. To be able to sit here and bring you this podcast is a step of faith, because my mouth is still not working properly, as you can probably tell, and it's a struggle for me to do this, but I want to be able to reach out to you with this message of hope and life that God has for us. Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. When we pray, god will lift those worries from us. He will change our hearts and our minds. He will work at us. He will help us. Trust me, I've experienced it. God will work to help us when we are worried. It says tell God what you need and then thank him for what he has done. The thanking him part is interesting because it tells us to thank him before we see the answers to our prayers. So we are to start to thank him right away for the things God's doing for us and in us.

Speaker 1:

Rick Renner, who is a Greek scholar and a wonderful Bible teacher, he talks about this word being thankful in that verse and he describes it this way. He says it is a compound word which describes an outpouring of grace and of wonderful feelings that freely flow from the heart in response to someone or something. When we truly believe that God is a good God and that he does want to bless us, we can be thanking Him. We can believe that God's working on it behind the scenes and he is on our side and we can trust Him. That's really what this is all about. Verse 7 then tells us that when we trust God with that, we will experience God's peace Even before the answer comes. God will give you peace. He God's peace Even before the answer comes. God will give you peace. He says that peace will exceed anything that we can understand. It will guard our hearts and our minds as we live in Christ Jesus.

Speaker 1:

Now let's get back to today's song you Bless Me, written and recorded by we, the Kingdom, and released on January 17th of this year. One of the reasons I love this song is that it is all about thanking God. I've never actually read through the lyrics of a song that says thank you as many times as this one does. It really has some very powerful messages in it. It's not about a life that's all perfect and good and nothing ever happens, but it's about the goodness of God in the midst of all the problems. Here's just some of the lyrics.

Speaker 1:

Every time I think of your kindness, every time I'm singing your name, jesus, I never thought my life could look like this. I give thanks every day when everything seems impossible. You are my peace through every storm. You are the God of miracles. When I look how far you've brought me, nothing I could do to deserve. When I was a sinner, you called me. I'm alive by your side because you loved me first. You are my peace through every storm. You are the God of miracles. You bless me. You bless me. Thank you, lord. Thank you, lord. It's a wonderful song that I know you will enjoy.

Speaker 1:

But let me ask you this If you compare the amount of time that you spend asking God to answer your prayers and the time you spend thanking Him for just being God and loving you and for what he has done for you, which one of those events take more of your prayer time has done for you? Which one of those events take more of your prayer time? Unfortunately, for many of us, it would be the request portion of that, when in reality, we should be spending much more time thanking God for what he already has done and what he will do because of the promises that he has made to us in His Word, promises that we can hang on to. I'm going to leave you with just a short clip of you Bless Me by we, the Kingdom, and then in your show notes today there will be the YouTube link you can click on and go and watch and listen to the whole thing. I encourage you to do that. The video is a fairly long one, about seven minutes but I know you will enjoy it, so I hope you will do that.

Speaker 1:

Have a great day, my friends. Here's we, the Kingdom, and you bless me, god. I'm in love with who you are. You are the private morning star. You fill me with joy inside my heart.
