Today, we're joined by my friend Carol Graham, an award-winning author and prayer coach, whose latest book, "Pray the Answer, Not the Problem," shares a riveting story of divine intervention on a busy highway. Carol recounts her harrowing experience on Interstate Highway 5, where a potential catastrophe was averted in the blink of an eye. Her unwavering faith and a single cry for help led to a surreal moment of divine protection that defied all logic and reason.

Join me as we explore the profound themes of faith and divine intervention. Inspired by Carol's miraculous encounter, we reflect on how faith can be a steady compass guiding us through life's most terrifying storms. Drawing from Hebrews 11:1, we discuss the power of believing in what is unseen and how faith can transform fear into peace and assurance. Embrace the stories of everyday miracles, and discover the peace that comes with choosing faith over fear.

Speaker 1:

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day, so grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax and let me help you start your day right. I recently received a copy of the book Pray the Answer, not the Problem, by Carol Graham. For those of you who have not heard of her before, carol is an award-winning author, a keynote speaker, a prayer coach, teacher, podcaster, youtuber and dog rescuer of more than 30 dogs. She's received the Author of the Year Award and Woman of Impact Award for her memoir Battered Hope. She's a fearless prayer warrior and she's my friend, and today I'd like to share just part of a story that she records in her latest book Pray for the Answer and Not the Problem.

Speaker 1:

It goes like this I was traveling down Interstate Highway 5, which has a speed limit of 70 miles an hour. Suddenly a black car edged too close to my right, traveling at the same speed as I was. My body tensed and I noticed our side-view mirrors were about an inch apart. Without time to check my rear-view mirror, I moved over to the next lane and she followed just as close. I pressed down on my horn, but she didn't respond. I eased off the accelerator to slow down and what happened next became a bit of a blur. My hands gripped the wheel tightly, my heart beat fast and my body shook With everything in me. I shouted Jesus. There was no time for me to react or apply the brakes. Her car crashed against the cement median and spun sideways. My SUV headed directly to her front door. Here is where all the laws of physics were defied. I did not apply the brakes, but my truck stopped immediately within inches of her door. Nothing was tossed inside my vehicle. My speed was between 65 and 68 miles an hour. The engine did not die. The stop was strangely gentle, as if I was traveling at 10 miles an hour, not 65. As her airbag deployed, she held her cell phone in her right hand. Had she been texting at that speed? Was she trying to kill herself? Traffic slowed and a couple of drivers pulled up to see if we were okay. I took a deep breath of relief, yet felt overwhelmed with disbelief and I noticed that I was trembling. The front of the girl's car was completely fragmented and gone.

Speaker 1:

A man asked me to back up my truck to give him room, to open her door and pull her out. Then he came back to report. She said it was a rental and the steering was wonky. The steering was wonky, not, so why was she going that speed and why didn't she attempt to stop? Then he asked a question that baffled me what's this in front of your car? No answers, only the undeniable fact that a pile of sand stopped my truck gently, without incident. I looked at him. My angels put it there, I said. He gave a crooked smile and shook his head in disbelief.

Speaker 1:

There was only one explanation for what happened Divine intervention. There is no doubt, nor any rationalization. Truly, it was a miracle. When I called out the name of Jesus, it was the assurance he was with me and would protect me. Even at that split second, faith overcame fear. I love hearing about stories like that, where God does a miracle. Even when we're not expecting it and even when we haven't necessarily been praying for it, god still did a miracle.

Speaker 1:

Hebrews 11 and verse 1 tells us that faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not yet see. In this story, carol had faith that God would be with her and would protect her wherever she was going throughout the day. She spent time with him in the morning and he was spending time with her throughout the day protecting her. The protection as she drove was a result of the faith for the things that she could not yet see. Yet God took day protecting her. The protection as she drove was a result of the faith for the things that she could not yet see, yet God took care of her.

Speaker 1:

Faith and fear are always battling within us. Each one of them gives us a different perspective on what the future is going to be like. Even as short a time as our day or our afternoon, or even the next conversation we're going to have, faith believes that God will bring about what is going to be best for us in this situation. Fear believes that the worst possible solution is going to come about, that something terrible is about to happen. That battle between faith and fear rages within us many times during our day, and one of the most important things is that, when we live by faith, we are constantly reminding ourselves that God is still there, he's still with us, he's still helping us and guiding us. Psalm 56, starting in verse 3, it says when I'm afraid, I will trust you. I praise God for His word. I trust God, so I am not afraid. What can human beings do to me? Faith is essential for our walk with God, and it's through faith that God is able to work and help us when we need it, even when we don't know we're going to need it. He's there for us because of our faith.
