Embracing Gratitude: Seth Schleter's Journey and the Power of 'Counting My Blessings'
Have you ever paused to truly count your blessings, even in the midst of life's trials? Join me, Danny Mac, as I return to the mic after a stroke and bring a heartfelt episode of Starting Right, where we explore the journey of emerging Christian artist Seth Schleter and his soul-stirring song, "Counting My Blessings." From leading worship in his local church to sharing the stage with Christian music icons like Natalie Grant and Phil Wickham, Seth’s story is one of gratitude and faith, woven beautifully into his music. His unique voice and sincere lyrics serve as a gentle reminder of the divine goodness present in our daily lives and encourage us to embrace thankfulness no matter the circumstances.
In today's episode, we not only celebrate Seth's inspiring musical journey but also reflect on the profound messages in his song through scriptural lenses from Psalms and Thessalonians. We explore how aligning our hearts with God's purpose allows us to recognize and be thankful for His blessings, even during challenges. Grab your coffee, sit back, and be uplifted by the spirit of gratitude as we highlight Seth’s melodic voice with a clip of his song. Check out the show notes for a link to the full track on YouTube and let Seth's music carry you through your day with a thankful heart. God bless!
Good morning everybody. This is Danny Mac. I am sorry about being away for a while, but back on 29th of October I had a stroke which obviously made it impossible to do the broadcast and, as you can tell by my voice, I'm still struggling with it. So, starting today, I'm going to continue to present episodes. Some of them will be repeats, some of them will be with guest hosts, and I hope to be able to do a few myself very shortly. Thank you for those who have been praying and never forget God is good, god is faithful, he is our strength and our healer in all things. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy as we listen to these episodes together.
Speaker 1:Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax and let me help you start your day right. Good morning everybody. Welcome to Music Monday, and today we're going to talk about a relatively new artist and a song that he has both written and recorded, called Counting my Blessings. I like it very much and I think you are going to as well.
Speaker 1:But first of all, let's talk a little bit about the artist. His name is Seth Schleter. He started his Christian music career, as many artists do, by leading worship in his home church, assisting in writing songs for other well-known artists. In the last couple of years, he's worked with Natalie Grant and Phil Wickham, being their opening act at their concerts, and the song we're talking about today, which was released back in the last part of 2023, is his first real breakthrough, and I think we're going to hear a whole lot more from this young man. He obviously loves writing and performing music, but he said most of all, his greatest desire is that Jesus would be glorified in everything that he does and that heaven would be made present through the way we live our lives. And with his unique melodic voice and very honest lyrics, his music is bound to stick with you throughout your day, and I think you're going to find yourself humming the tune even if you can't remember all the words. This is that kind of song and he has that kind of voice.
Speaker 1:Today's song, counting my Blessings, begins this way it's like it was yesterday I was praying for a miracle, scared to have a little hope, and now, looking back today, seeing all the things you've done. I can't even add them up One, two, three, up to infinity. I've run out of numbers. But before I could thank you for everything, god, I'm still counting my blessing.
Speaker 1:Sometimes we forget that God purposes to love and bless us with His blessings. Psalm 37, verse 4, reminds us that as we delight ourselves in the Lord, he will give us the desires of our hearts. Isn't that amazing. God delights in blessing us when our hearts are aligned with His Over. In 1 Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 18, paul encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Remember that he doesn't say to give thanks for all circumstances, but rather in all circumstances. It's even in the midst of those trials that we can find blessings to count the strength that God gives, the lessons we've learned, the community that surrounds us. It really, truly comes from an attitude of thankfulness that we need to build and have in our lives.
Speaker 1:One more verse I want to have for you today Psalm 103, verse 2, which reminds us Praise the Lord, o my soul, and forget not all of his benefits. You know, sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in our day-to-day struggles that we forget all of the blessings that God showers upon us each day, and so today, through this song and as we listen to it, hopefully it will remind us to take a moment and just remember and be thankful for God's faithfulness and goodness in our lives. I will leave you with just a short clip of the song Counting my Blessings by Seth Schleder, and in your show notes there will be the link for you to go and listen to the whole thing on YouTube. Have a great day, my friends, and remember God's blessings are abundant for us every day. Here's Seth. Enjoy his music. God bless you.
